Unpopular opinion but I shouldn’t have to download literal spyware on my computer to be able to attend university. If you can’t trust students not to cheat, even during Summer classes, then you should make in-person exams mandatory. I’m tired of the bs.

Or at least an option so I don’t have to download the spyware if I don’t want to

Denying me even the option to go in person is just absurd

Exactly. “Oh, you’re already paying thousands of dollars to take these classes? Okay. Well download this spyware otherwise we’ll fail you and it’ll be all for nothing.”

And they’re not even good!!! Mine has shut off over a cat in the background scratching at my door, me looking down too long and having to scan my ID again, not accepting me as my id photo bc I was wearing headphones, like fuck man I’m just trying to get this god damn Spanish credit

Ah yes let me drop out and waste hundreds of thousands of dollars and 4 years of my life because this one class unrelated to my major I need to graduate they only let me take online and requires spyware on my personal device I’m using in my home. A correct choice you’re so right how have I been so blind

If you can afford hundreds of thousands of dollars why don’t you just buy a cheap sub 200 dollar laptop and use that instead of your “personal device” ?????

Genuinely don’t understand why yall are arguing when a laptop is cheap asf compared to the tuition

Because we can take loans for tuition and not pay them back for years (if at all). You can’t really do that the same way with a laptop. You and #2 are basically saying just don’t get an education or if you do then you should just pay up even though you’re already paying out the ass anyway

If you cannot afford 150 dollars for a burner laptop than you should not be taking online classes and do not that the luxury to complain Or how about you run a virtual machine within your computer? I mean come on.

Get a credit card and use the credit to buy a laptop and pay it off over a year for all I care… 150 dollars interest rate 26% in total sub 200 dollars and you pay it off over 12 months. You can’t afford 17 bucks a month? How do you EAT??

Getting a credit card is literally a terrible idea lmao. Sure, let me just go into debt with outrageous interest rates just because. I can complain about whatever I want to complain about. I don’t need your permission lmao

Today I learned complaining about universities feeling entitled to your private data is a luxury, bc affording a SECOND laptop (that would still contain your personal data, film you, and share your IP info, so it doesn’t solve a single fucking problem) while going into lifelong debt is a luxury

And also, for the record- we eat via the meal plans covered by our loans and 12 cent ramen noodles packets during the summer :) your privilege is showing

If you knew how difficult the financial situation was in my home you wouldn’t be saying that, but alright. You want to complain? Do it then. I’ve offered numerous solutions.

Because getting 40 dollars in interest over 12 months is “outrageous debt” compared to “hundreds of thousands in tuition” as if you can’t just buy a laptop from Best Buy, take your exam, and return the thing <2 weeks later and get a full cash back refund yOuR pRiVleDge iS shOwIng
