If you live near a restaurant you live near other working places. Factories, warehouse, there’s no where in the country you’ll be more than 30min away from something. If you’re too lazy to work those jobs just say that. They aren’t glorious jobs, but they pay more. I live in a tiny town with 5,000 people and there are 20+ places all hiring anyone no skills and pay 15+ an hour. I’m also in TN where minimum wage is 7.25
I work a sales job. I make 100k a year at 25. My friend who is in Florida does not have a factory within 30 mins of her. In college, I applied to the local plastic factory and was not hired. This argument is fucking stupid. Go get paid your $15 an hour bitch. My entry level job ended up being hospitality (not restaurants but I’m sure it’s the same fucking thing) which let me network into better roles by talking to people. Something I could never do in a factory.
So this wasn’t about an argument at all, you’re anonymous and feel the need to stroke your ego? The discussion was whether or not people need jobs as a server. They do not. And not getting hired at a single factory means no one is hiring? Please tell me you’re smarter than this. I never mentioned my job, nor income. I stated factories in my area (a tiny city) pay 15/hr double minimum wage. There is no where in FL 30min from a factory, this is a blatant lie. There are factories are warehouses
There are many places in Florida that are 30 minutes away from quite a lot because of Florida’s highway system. I’m telling you my experience was that having a factory near you doesn’t entitle you to having a job at a factory. You cannot be so dense that you can’t understand that and think that the only option available is factory work because that’s what you have in fucking Tennessee. People do need jobs in the service industry. It’s a valuable industry. This isn’t an argument. You’re just dumb
I love that you twist my word to fit your argument. If your “friend” lives more than 30 min from anything, then they also are driving more than 30min to their current job. Your argument is that it’s required to tip them because it’s a necessary job. It is not. Factories are one prime example of an alternative to unskilled labor. There are many examples. You also fail to address my main argument. Servers serve because it’s easy work and makes 40-50/hr. I agree completely as to why they’d “need”
