A girl here once apologized before she told me she was black and it made me so sad. Didn’t even realize people were still so awful 😭 and I guess I’m lucky to be able to be so naive in the first place

It was crazy, she was so sweet too. OP I relate to the fetish thing (on lower level tho probably), it’s the same reason I sometimes avoid telling ppl I’m Asian.
