It’s not grape it’s rape. It’s not schmurdered or unalived it’s murdered. These aren’t bad word they’re real, serious crimes. Imagine being in court and your lawyer says you were “graped.” Like, no. Stop remixing words

Saying it irl is weird but online it’s definitely used so they aren’t banned for trying to bring awareness to these kind of events. I get what you mean about the podcasts tho. I stopped listening to Bailey cause I didn’t like how entertainment focused she was but at least with crime junkies they’ve started foundations and give grants and publicity to help cold cases and current cases get the tests they’ve been waiting for funding to do. They’re more situationally aware now.

Frankly, the censorship of those words has led to the trivialization of the meaning of those words. The fact that we now cannot discuss those things in honest terms now means that they are forced to be swapped for substitutes. Substitutes which are inherently Non-serious. We discuss serious topics couched in Flanderization. And that leads to the topics being trivialized, downplayed, all because of the adpocalypse and the need to make everything “child friendly.”

It’s annoying that’s why I hate “true crime” podcasts. Imagine someone’s doing their makeup laughing while watering down your story.

Some topics are inherently NOT child-friendly, and we shouldn’t have to pretend those topics just don’t exist. Hide it behind an age lock, or place a trigger warning, but don’t just censor the words. And don’t cave in to the censorship either. Or at least be creative in your workarounds.
