Online dating is kind of killing the art of flirting and we’re losing an actual critical part of dating because people just want to order a pizza (aka check all the physical parts they’re attracted to) and basically shoehorn themselves into —

A relationship. Or they’re prepared to date so many people that at some point they just pick someone out of decision fatigue. There’s something so beautiful about the slow growth tension and getting to know someone through meeting them, then finally working up the courage to get their number, and walking into the first date actually knowing around that person but it’s the first time you’re really 1-1 or at least the first time you’re intentionally 1-1 and you’re fucking nervous.

Ok but that wasn’t anything what my post was talking about. Go order your pizza (penis) and enjoy. I was talking about actual romance.

And if you can’t tell a dude is really big by how his pants sit you might need to work on observation skills. Ijs

if i did what you’re suggesting i would waste literal years of my life and other peoples lives dating people im not compatible with. life is too short for that. being upfront online about compatibility isn’t unromantic, i think it’s very romantic to not waste peoples time. i’m autistic so i really struggle to meet people in person and my standards weed out 99% of men anyway. i’m just saying online dating works for some people way better and it’s not killing anything. im not talking about hookups

i can read print but most men are growers and i don’t go around staring at men’s genitals trying to decipher their size when i can just ask them.

I’m autistic too. And extremely Demi. And extremely bored by conversations with randos about whether we’d be good at getting it on together. None of that feels romantic to me. I need to know how someone smells, how it feels chatting with them in person, how their voice sounds before my attraction even starts forming. Technology is great for a lot of things, but it can’t give me any of that.

i don’t disagree that meeting someone in person is romantic but i’m immunocompromised and disabled so i don’t really have the chance to meet people in person unfortunately. i’m just saying some people use online dating for very good reasons and i don’t think it’s fair to say that it’s killing the art of flirting. idk about you but i can definitely be flirty over text, phone, and video calls before i meet them

i also live in a red state but im a leftist and i can’t exactly go up to men and be like “get what are your political beliefs and how many inches?” like im looking for a freaking unicorn here lol. online dating has made my life sooo much easier and has actually given me a chance at romance. im dating someone i met on tinder now that i never would’ve met in person 🥰

I can do it, whether it feels right or gives me the sensory feedback that really contributes to turning me on is an entirely different story. The only time I’ve successfully used online dating was to break a dry spell so long I actually went borderline neurotic and so I went on a kink site.

that makes sense. i think most people would prefer to naturally encounter someone and have a slow burn, romantic build up. sadly when i’ve tried to do that i fell in love with someone i wasn’t physically compatible with and shattered both of our hearts. i definitely use online dating to find people that meet my very specific and rare needs and then i meet them in person as soon as possible to see if there is chemistry.

i honestly find it such a relief to know going into the interaction knowing that we’re both looking for a relationship. but everyone’s different and prioritizes different things! tinder can be very impersonal if you let it but i’ve connected with some really great people on there and i’m super thankful to have that option.

Happy for you but I still think it’s broken something for people. People want to get right to what they think is the “good stuff” it moves too fast and the conversations are either boring, hypersexual, or non-existent. I’m also in a red state, a liberal, and not part of a mainstream religion. I don’t have interests common to the area around me and none of that has made online dating have better outcomes than meeting someone in person. In fact it’s been worse by a lot.

thank you. i wish i had the same experience meeting people in person! most conversations on tinder have been a clusterfuck. but then that one person comes along and makes everything worth the time. i tend to move extremely fast in relationships so maybe that’s another reason i prefer it 😂 my last relationship i met him on whisper (a non dating app) just to smoke. our first date lasted 2 days and our second date lasted 4 days and he asked me to be his girlfriend then lol

All mine tend to move incredibly fast after the first touch which is why I need the slower pace of actually getting to know someone before dating is ever a conversation. Interest clubs and gaming stores with gaming space are what works for me now that I’m out of school.

Honestly I wish I had the ability to do quick start relationships, then online might not be so bad. I tried them, all of them went bad. I don’t try them anymore. Currently I’m crushing on an older man. If things don’t work out with him, then I might have to go back to the kink app just because I hate hookups but I hate desperately horny dryspell me more.
