I remember reading an article on this group of women who go to a recreation center (or was it a retirement home?), and their husbands all just wait outside for them. They soon found a shed out back with a technician- and they all congregated and worked on bettering the place for their wives (making furniture, setting up events). It showed that men tend to need to feel useful in order to better accept love. This is a gross simplification but I think it gets the point across.
