My two cents: yes, Whitney is the best currently. But she hasn’t shown as drastic of an improvement as others like Robert, Alix, and jordan because she was already a trained dancer. Yes, they are different styles, but she has much more prior knowledge.

And the thing about the show is it’s exciting to see who IMPROVES! In addition to who’s the best. If she won I would just feel bummed purely because others have never danced and are showing such amazing performances. No ill wishes on her at all, I want to see her in the finale, but I want Robert on top.

This is how I felt last year with Joey. Chandler was AMAZING but I just loved watching Joey improve drastically. Idc if someone on the show has dance experience, but I typically wouldn’t want them to win (unless they really wow me)

Alix has a similar dance experience as Whitney, and Jordan’s background is obviously relevant. You’re welcome to make the dance background argument, but you can’t use the other competitive dancer and gold medaling gymnast to make it 🤭

Gymnastics isn’t really about dance. Gymnasts aren’t usually trained in technique and stuff beyond straight legs and pointed toes. Most of what they do is just basic arm movements that anyone can do without any training and leaps. They only dance on one event, and 90% of their focus on that event is on the tumbling, not perfecting the dance. It is most definitely not the same as being a trained dancer. Just because there’s a tiny bit of overlap doesn’t mean they’re the same!!

Also, let’s pls remember that competitive dancing until 17 in HS and a Degree for Fine Arts in dance are 2 very different animals!

They really aren’t. You act like Whitney went to Juilliard rather than a state school. Not to mention that Whitney is further removed from her dance experience than Alix is…

Do you really deny that being one of the best gymnasts in the world is a serious advantage in a dancing competition? No one’s claiming that it’s the exact same experience, but I think medaling in floor at the Olympics last year is about as relevant as dancing as a student non-professionally almost a decade ago. Again, there are plenty of people on this season that don’t have dance experience that you could line up behind if you feel so inclined! It just isn’t either of these contestants.

It’s like the equivalent of dancing for fun at a local dance studio until age 12. The advantage is negligible, all things considered. If you exclusively want people on the cast who have never danced in their lives, you’re gonna run out of stars to be on the show.
