A guy approached me while I was in public reading a book. A few days later that guy ghosted me cause he said I was “boring and read a lot” and “not the party and freaky girl” he thought I was🤨🤨 SIR YOU MET ME WHILE I WAS ‘BORING’ AND READING

A lot of guys have a really weird fantasy about getting with a quiet nerdy type of girl and her secretly being an unhinged freak idk why they get surprised when that’s not actually true

Like what more could men want from me. I met them know i have grandma hobbies and am a homebody, and then suddenly (after some time) they have a problem with it. Im so confused

That’s really weird because I party and go out and my ex said I was too boring too…my partner now describes me as outgoing and fun. I think what people mean by boring is actually toxic. And people often leave their perfectly healthy relationships because they crave the craziness of something more toxic

May I ask how he approached you?

Sounds like he liked your looks and then realized he didn’t like your personality. It sounds like he was probably looking for a hookup or casual sex. Also, do you read in lieu of interacting with people socially? Perhaps when he said you were “boring and read a lot,” he meant that you were reading instead of interacting with him socially?

I want a homebody girl. Should I approach a woman at the library?

Trying to claim only autistic people could be interested in reading is really weird lmao

I’ve noticed a lot of women have a problem with that too, and my theory is that culturally we’re “supposed to” like going out because we’re young

The fantasy 1 described is certainly something that exists but I feel like the phenomenon is too universal to boil down to that alone

Maybe if she’s looking for a book, you can offer a recommendation you’ve read. If she’s actively reading, don’t do it.

What’s wrong with doing so while she’s reading?

Just walked up and said something along the lines of “I wanted to tell you that you’re beautiful and can I have your number”

Being a nerd means knowing a shit ton about a subject to the point of it being unusual. I thought that it was common knowledge that most autistic people are nerds bc they have special interests?

But also every bookworm I met was autistic. Like I know someone who has Harry Potter as their special interest(a tragedy, I know). Another has the dsm5 as theirs. I even know a guy who was so obsessed with classical literature that he majored in it in school(classical literature was HIS special interest)

Like books and specific genres are a really popular special interest. Did you forget about how popular the sci-fi genre is with autistic people? Like the amount of people I’ve met who ranted to me about DUNE and Star Wars is crazy

Why do you assume that everyone who likes books is autistic In your original comment you deleted you assumed OP is autistic and was rejected because of that

My own mother is autistic and for as long as I can remember she’s been obsessed with romance novels. She owns the entire twilight series and her romance novel collection is scattered throughout the house at any given point. She’s always reading a new romance novel. Peak autism right there bc it’s been 20 years and she’s still obsessed with romance.

Tbf there are multiple studies that show that neurotypicals have visceral responses to autistic people even if they don’t know the person is autistic. They inherently feel disgusted by autistic people simply because they don’t adhere to social norms.

Ok that doesn’t imply all bookworms are autistic though, weird ass assumption to make
