There were plans in place to widen it back 3 years ago when all of the BS with Desantis and the new CFTOD came about. One of the first things CFTOD did was cancel it. Glad to see it’s back on track.

This will make traffic even worse. The issue is the on/off ramps to N//S 429. Widening will just cause more traffic.

That’s only gonna make the traffic worse I fear

The plans call for improvements to that intersection, including signalization of it. In the end it will help, probably tremendously.

They do not. They only call for widening Western Way and improving the intersection at Western Way and Buena Vista Drive.

You don’t see it on CFTOD’s stuff because FDOT is taking care of that part. 👍🏼

I don’t see anything about that on CFX website 🤷♂️🧐
Again, that is for the Buena vista drive and western way intersection. Not the N/S 429 ramps.

However FDOT is doing a study on expanding interchanges: https://floridasturnpike.com/turnpike-projects/featured-projects/widen-western-beltway-sr-429-pde/

As they should. The issue isn’t the amount of lanes, it’s the people having to cross 2 lanes of traffic to get onto SB 429, which always causes the backups.

I have to agree with that, a high capacity DDI (diverging diamond interchange) or even turbine-style clover leaf could work too, tho u start to run into the issues of land acquisition, cost, environmental impact as there is “Everglades” wet land near

That’s the issue I see as well. I wonder if what they are doing at Sand Lake Road and I4, which is the DDI. Feel like that would be their best option.
