I think the lore is that aliens have them and you ~might~ encounter them in campaign. My friends and I were playing Icelandic Dale (I think?) and found a crashed space ship. The aliens gave us a couple laser guns in exchange for helping them fix their ship. It was like handing a gun to a Victorian child so we all had to pass SEVERAL investigation checks to even use the damn things. Then we gave them to a mummy :)

Hehe I love that and such a clever way to make it a challenge to use by your dm because obviously you wouldn’t just know how to use some alien tech like master chief picking up a needler
