there should be a single room in the middle of things that's as straight forward as possible. I've been in a party of players looking down a regular empty hallway in fear, I can only imagine the lengths escape room employees might go through to create possibilities lol

Make the escape room have the animated skeleton of someone who died trying to get out, and it makes exasperated comments if they try to solve the puzzle by just breaking things
