Suggest the idea to some creative/high energy friends. Don’t get too attached to doing it perfectly right, just have fun with a bunch of beginners! It’s much more fun/easy to pick a group you feel safe with over a group of experienced strangers

You can try a big server online. Theres a lot dedicated to new players fining groups (that’s how I found mine). Thats more of a risk though because you don’t actually know these people at all yet. You might get lucky though like I did and meet some of the coolest people

The part about not getting attached to doing things perfectly is SO important. Dnd isn’t meant to be perfect, it’s meant to be fun. You’re playing pretend with dice with friends, so have fun with it!
