Local game stores are the way to go. Look for ones in your area, whether they’re stores for tabletop games or game taverns, check and see if they are hosting campaigns or Adventure League. Even if they aren’t hosting a campaign you can join you can always go whenever they have DnD nights to meet other players who may be looking for players for their personal campaign. Good luck to you, it’s really fun and it’s a good way to reach out and meet new people

Online is a good resource. I have an online group and we have sessions sometimes over call

Get a Roll20 account (it’s free), and you can look online for groups

School Clubs or Local Game Stores. Online just isn’t the same.

I would say that they come with different opportunities. I’m in 6 campaigns and 2 of them are online. I love my groups equally
