I don’t rlly believe in renewable resources 🫣 I believe in renewable energy to a certain degree but I think claiming that anything is truly “renewable” is harmful overall. We need, like, a renewability index or something.

Renewability in the sense that it takes a certain amount of time to replenish the sources, I also don’t think that should be the end-all-be-all. That’s the concern when the goal is an infinitely strong energy grid but that’s absolutely not the only concern in terms of environmentalism. Trees and forests are considered renewable resources but we’ve obviously fucked that up. Idk as much abt hydro and wind but solar isn’t renewable in its current state from the fucking lithium mining required for

BUT actually it should be a sustainability index because my whole point is that renewability matters primarily from a capitalistic perspective. I think we’re far too focused on how to facilitate gluttonous energy consumption rather than how to reduce energy consumption in the first place

the batteries. It would be a lot more sustainable if companies were willing to invest in battery recycling (though idk if that’d technically make it more renewable or not).

We need to treat electricity more like how we treat water. Outside of extremely low-water areas, we aren’t focusing on desalination and no one is advocating for mining icebergs. People are opposed to fracking for the most part. The efforts are put toward reducing unnecessary consumption of freshwater, which is also what we should be working on with electricity
