I had a kid I went to HS with drown his senior year. Football player, competitive swimmer, track star. Got a really bad cramp, had no life jacket and his friends weren’t paying attention. No matter how fit you are, or how good of a swimmer you are, anything can happen.

My coworker lied to me and told me he knew how to swim and operate a canoe. He capsized and flailed…. Glad I forced him to wear a life jacket

Lifejackets Save Lives. It’s that simple, them being seen as something only kids and non-swimmers wear is extremely dangerous. We need to collectively re-evaluate how we think of lifejackets, they need to be seen as similar to seatbelts, something we ALL wear, regardless of swimming ability. I swim laps in one because it’s just safer and there’s no downside to it, anything can happen in the water!

Good call, even if he could swim though… Lifejackets are still for EVERYBODY!
