So it’s possible that it’s not tick since other insects make a bullseye rash. Is the bite decaying? Warm to the touch? Do you have a fever or other symptoms? Could indicate something else. I recommend getting on doxycycline ASAP. Ticks also don’t always attach, they can bite and move on if it’s unfavorable it’s just not common. I’m in the same boat and have been on doxycycline for the last week to cover any bases.

upon further research it could very well be ringworm… the bullseye rash with lyme isn’t supposed to itch or anything, i thought this was a horrible mosquito bite for the past few days

Well ring worm’s border is red and typically the middle is also mildly inflamed too. They also don’t typically have a bite mark. Plus tick bite develop the bullseye in 3-30 days. I

i’m gonna keep an eye on it bc the lyme rash isn’t meant to be itchy and also generally expands. i don’t want to start antibiotics rn if i don’t have to since i literally just finished 5 days of antibiotics for cellulitis

should mention the cellulitis was in a different spot and related to a cat scratch

I’d be really careful, because once you start showing symptoms you have Lyme disease. Which is why they start you on antibiotics immediately after a tick bite. Lyme disease is nasty and you could put yourself in a really bad position.

girl that is straight up false no responsible doctor starts antibiotics right after a tick bite.

Legit what happened to me. They immediately started me on antibiotics because I had the bullseye. To be fair I had four so it could be different because I had so many.

that’s not immediately after the bite, it’s after symptoms show. difference there. and if it hasn’t gone down tomorrow i’m going in, don’t wanna jump the gun and decimate my gut since i literally just finished 5 days of antibiotics yesterday

No they’re right… most doctors will recommend you start antibiotics asap if you think you’ve been bit at all. I live in a very tick infested area and both me and my family have on doxycycline multiple times after tick bites

Though I 100% understand the hesitation in being over medicated esp with antibiotics

that’s definitely not the standard. tick bites are extremely common at my workplace (literal national park service) and they don’t recommend going to a doctor unless you have symptoms. only about 20% of ticks even carry lyme, and if a tick is attached less than 8 hours and properly removed your chances of lyme even from an infected tick are almost 0. i understand wanting to treat just to be safe but if a tick is attached less than 8 hours it’s not appropriate to take antibiotics.
