As terrible as ai is for the environment and pols lives in general it’s not going to get banned on a legislative level bc of a survey like this. IF it could happen it would be through directly contacting local and federal officials

I think banning technology is not the right solution, instead we need to first fully ban AI from having a personality like a real person and specifically ban deepfakes and enforce the labeling of “ai art” Instead of spending trillions on data centers for inefficient chips I think we need to mandate investments into compute efficiency to lessen resource consumption.

Bc by banning something you force it into the black market like drugs or SW. So people will continue to use bad actor open source models for restricted things

Btw I live in a state with a lot of forested area that’s being destroyed for quartz mining for silicon for chips so I’m not some pro AI shill if this keeps going we all need to learn how to fly fpv drones into a heat exhaust like Luke skywalker in Star Wars

I totally agree, I think that ai is going to be part of our lives whether we like it or not but it’s current boundless model isn’t sustainable and and won’t last, major restrictions will have to be made and that’s the more practical “solution”

Yeah some people read the unabumber manifesto and immediately go apeshit on all technology. I think it’s perfect for things like cancer research or deciphering ancient languages. FUCK it for art or replacing human intelligence
