As a trans person, I have experienced bullshit/discrimination happen to me on public transit, but I don’t have the privilege to not use public transit. I just keep going and I have taken several self defense classes to protect myself. Helping advocate for your community and for women and stepping in when necessary is a good thing to do.

The risks of driving are still higher, humans are just naturally wired to be more scared of violence than accidents

yeah car accidents are terrifying but being randomly lit on fire seems even worse. apathy, violence against women, and the justice system are the problems though, not public transit systems

I used to be a chick and as a teen girl my method was look angry/pissy, talk to no one, take up space if not an overcrowded bus. Get gel pepper spray not regular. That way it wont gas out everyone just your target. Have a pocket knife. Have earbuds in always but at medium or low. Deters weirdos talking to you but you can still be aware. And be aware but not paranoid. Its honestly very manageable. Accidents are much more likely. But still I understand the fear.

I do these things but it doesn’t fully prevent folks from messing with you
