land management is sick as fuck i love being a steward of the land and not having to go to grad school like the singular environmental science professor at my piss poor 100 student school led me to believe

it’s hard labor but it’s so worth it it’s the most fulfilling work i’ve ever done. i got rlly lucky and landed an internship at a local but fairly well known nature preserve in my area, and just having that connection helped a lot. there are tons of internships available if you’re willing to do grunt work, luckily most of it will be in the woods instead of in the sun though! volunteering also can be a great way to get into it. being trained on the chainsaw and having some general power tool—

—knowledge is helpful. having a bachelors really does open a lot of doors tbh but i don’t have one and neither did my first boss, who is honestly my idol to this day. just a lot of teaching yourself and having labor experience can help you get in, but it will be harder without secondary education

but yeah best job in the world imo it’s good for your soul to get your hands dirty and put your blood sweat and tears into the land. some days you’ll be wanting to do anything else, but then you eat the peanut butter sandwich you’ve packed for lunch everyday while sitting on a rock by a stream and that goes away
