Seems to be a crazy out-of-control invasive species from what I quickly found. "Infestations may result in disruption of water flow in rivers and the lifecycles of various organisms from amphibians and algae may be affected. A single plant may produce up to 2.7 million seeds annually. Easily carried by wind and water. The plant can sprout anew from pieces of root left in water or soil. Can grow up to 2 meters tall." Sounds like a real pain in the ass tbh.
