I wonder if it was dropped by like a mining truck or a tourist (unlikely given how isolated the area was) or whether it just formed naturally like that. I wish I knew more about geology 😭

Gold miners would look for quartz as a sign of gold. You’ll find piles of white quartz everywhere in California, they’re known as “prospector pits”.
