how do you guys make friends when you start a job in a new city? (like non coworker friends) i’ve heard of bumble bff but do people actually use that or is it just for like the chronically online odd ball type?

it sounds so old-school but get into volunteering with nonprofits or charities, particularly with museums or cleanup/land maintenance projects. Younger people usually around for cleanups and land maintenance volunteers, but the museums are struggling really bad to replenish their diminishing pool of elderly volunteers. Old people are great friends to have sometimes!! They’re almost always home except on Sundays, always try to feed ya, and you get some crazy life stories too.

most community ball fields usually have softball leagues in the summer and the fall, i think! some places will have volleyball too or hockey, and i’m sure there’s gonna be some team looking for the “one more” player as the seasons start.

There’s probably pickup games he could go to, once you figure out when/where they are.
