I’ve been wondering if banning or at least severely restricting farming animals for food is necessary to save the planet.

Ban it, or at the very least stop having the government subsidize it, which will make the cost of animal agriculture way more visible to consumers, reducing demand and therefore supply

This is part of the reason I’m in utter disbelief that people want to ban lab grown meat. If we get the cost down of safely mass producing it, it could be one of the greatest innovations of our time.

What if we do a temporary ban. Like one year so people can figure out how to live without meat, and also record the effects on emissions and such, and all the sociological effects. Then, even if we unbanned, people might be like “that wasn’t so bad actually” and just keep going. Or at least now they’d have a bunch of vegetarian. This plan has zero flaws

The amount of land it takes to grow enough vegetables to sustain a whole population is insane
