i hope we see more diversity in the environmental field as time goes on (both biodiversity in the environment and diversity in backgrounds of practitioners)
Unless the field starts compensating people adequately it won’t happen.

it’s disheartening to see how many highly motivated and highly skilled individuals are driven out because employers don’t respect us enough to give us enough money to live on

i think we also need to blame society as a whole for not funding this field. most of my employers didn’t have enough money to pay us

100%. The amount of wife jobs I’ve had to do to try and maintain myself during unpaid internships or poorly paid full time work. Already burnt out before you even get close to hitting 30 sucks.

100%. I was living out of my small car eating maybe once a day every few days because I couldn’t afford housing, food, to repair my car falling apart, let alone health care or paying my debt (medical) down enough to not just be barely paying the interest.

I make it by having fire qualifications and going on assignments. 14-21 days of 16 hour shifts sucks until you get a $6k paycheck.
