DONT DESPAIR!! it’ll happen eventually, these are the hard times (an entry lvl bat technician job I applied for was intended for recent grads/college students and the person who got it did their masters on neotropical bats. How tf am I supposed to keep with that), and this field is already competitive on top of it. Even if u don’t get it this season, start or keep volunteering! It’ll get your name out there, AND good on resumes
I say this as someone who was rejected from every job/internship I applied to 2 summers ago, and barely found one at the last minute this past field season. I thought I’d never get an internship/job, and felt totally worthless when my friends and classmates talked abt their summer jobs in conservation/wildlife, but it happens. My seasonal position last year was only part time, so I had to work as a server in my time off, but I learned SO much.
