This is what feral cats do by the way. My girlfriend found this poor Common Yellowthroat in the morning which we both after looking over it realized it was killed by a cat. I agree we need humane solutions, but what are these solutions going to look like?

I think we should all be able to have peaceful conversations on what to do with invasive species, I think it is okay to be sad or upset by the idea of killing invasives as it is not their fault they are here. However we also need to think about the hundreds of thousands of native animals in danger. I love cats, but the ecosystem CANNOT handle the amount of them that have flooded in.

My ornithology class taught us that Feral cats cause ~2 billion bird deaths per year. Killing cats was a very real and uncomfortable discussion we had as part of a larger discussion about how to mitigate the effects of invasive species and how we value more charismatic animals over others

We’re not saying that cats killing birds isn’t a problem. The issue is immediately going for the “let’s just kill it” mentality because working on other solutions is harder.

I’m sure posting a dead bird will help

This is the reality of the situation, if it makes you uncomfortable environmentalism is not for you
