Acorn woodpeckers are my favorite :)) I love all birds but these guys are especially incredible to me, they have clownish faces, guffawing vocalizations, and cool cooperative breeding systems. Successive generations maintain granary trees, storing tens of thousands of acorns for food during the winter. Hope this helps 🫶🏻 I’ve also been feeling a lot of grief for people & planet, it’s not easy to grapple with but it’s always easier to do with other people :)

I recently got into shoebill stork, they remind me of buck beak from HP but my favorite animal is a beaver! I saw some in the wild and it was cool
