Whether they’re native or not, all I’m saying is that no non human animals spent their lives indoors naturally anytime but now, and even now only some do. I think there’s something obviously enriching about getting to interact with the natural world as an animal. I think there is a loss there
That being said, my brother has a house cat that almost never leaves besides on a harness and I couldn’t agree with their choice more, if their cat got out she’d likely get lost or get killed so I get it. Just saying that for some people outdoor cats are the move and that’s not inherently wrong either, it’s just a tradeoff
tell me you understand nothing about ecology & invasive species without telling me you know nothing about ecology & invasive species… invasive species cause damage both ecologically and ECONOMICALLY! cats will destroy the native pest control of farm fields by killing birds, not to mention local bird populations already have enough issues with bioaccumulation, climate change, light pollution, etc. we have a stray cat epidemic because of people with outdoor cats adding to the breeding population
