Humans will probably go extinct due to climate change, but Earth will heal once we are gone, and somehow, that give me peace with the concept of our death as a species. If there is an afterlife, I can’t wait to watch Earth’s revival knowing she’s safe

Yes I feel this! Sometimes I (generalize) reallllly don’t like humans and think/know that Earth would be better without us

I love this I often get sad thinking about how I’ll never see the fruits of my labor or see nature harmonious and unharmed in my lifetime

i mean earth will keep existing when we're gonna but i dont know if "heal" is as accurate as "adapt". yeah humans have fucked some shit up and need to do better, but we're also a keystone species. all domesticated animals would die or become invasive, disruption-dependent ecosystems (like the great plains' reliance on 2nd fire) would be fucked, a lot of infrastructure would hurt ecosystems w/out maintenance. we are not higher beings removed from the ecosystems we're in

Indigenous people weren’t part of the problem though, let’s not lump all cultures together. It’s not humans, it’s a certain subset that spread like a cancer

Not when there’s no such thing as safe to eat food and safe to drink water or safe to breathe air anymore. “You cannot eat money” -Aurora

That’s why I said generalized/generally. Plus the poster lumped us together as a species too?

You’re right, sorry I didn’t mean to single you out. I was attempting to address both you and the poster

You didn’t do anything bad I just wanted to add this point to the discussion because it’s important. Sorry if it came off as aggressive toward you

The chances of their being no food, no safe water, or no breathable air is really really low.

Oh of course. We have done irreversible damage and that doesn’t go away when we do. Our impact will be eternal, but as nature does, she will evolve to sustain life as best as possible and eventually reach some kind of equilibrium. That is a good clarification for what I mean
