I genuinely think it’s just bc of the place. Like in the horse world we have WEC and if you win there it’s like “omg I got champion at WEC” but in reality…some of those classes are so small that the only way you don’t place at all is if you fall off/go off course. It’s just the names and the reactions that come from saying “I won at this place”

what #1 said, honestly it’s just because of the setting. very iconic elitist place, lots of past successful drivers have won there so it’s kind of an honor to be among those names
