Just half a season following Ferrari being a lifelong Lewis fan has showed me why Ferrari fans keep saying it’s a lifetime of pain

Hamilton’s partly responsible for why Ferrari’s fans have been in pain before wdym you couldn’t tell 😭

Ferrari fans have been this way for 10+ years, that was in Lewis prime Mercedes era so don’t see how it’s related, but do enlighten

Been in pain since 2009 for sure, but 2015-2019 it’s mainly been Hamilton because of his dominance. It’s definitely related given how successful Hamilton was in that era, especially when Ferrari would’ve won the wdc and constructors multiple times if it weren’t for Hamilton racing.

Oh like that loolllll, yeah I meant more circumstances than competition. Like ferrari making constant mistakes last year etc than competition being too good

Yeah I didn’t mean it in terms that lol 😭 Ferrari’s had its highs and lows, but there’s been a ton of lows because of the team as well as not having a truly competitive car against Red Bull and Ferrari. Why they keep recruiting drivers with wdcs I’ll never know 😭 developing Leclerc worked for them but idk

Has Lewis coming in been a net negative though? Even leclerc is doing worse than last year , maybe changing the race car completely was kind of stupid. I feel it’s more the team that’s the issue. Lewis has underperformed for sure, he doesn’t seem at gripes with the car, but Lewis did help build out merc and I’m hoping he can get Ferrari to get good again… what a story that’d be

May I chime in? It also doesn’t help that Ferrari has been having so many inconsistencies on who’s the team principal and having that leadership change every few years hasn’t helped them maintain a straight line either. First it was maurizio, then mattia binotto, and then now Fred vasseur. It’s nothing wrong, maybe all 3 are very capable but it’s the fact that it’s been constantly changing that there’s no clear sight. Take Williams for example, now that Vowles is there, there have been many

Improvements in the technical as well as management side and I think they made a YouTube video about it “day in the life of James Vowles” which I think is a good watch but yeah coming back to the point, if they had more consistency in the people then it would be fine

Nah it’s not Hamilton himself so far, and it’s wrong to pin it on him at this point because it usually takes a season or two to adjust to a team. Sometimes drivers adjust instantly and sometimes it takes time, especially if they’ve driver for other teams. My main worry is that he’s gotten used to Merc to the point where he won’t be able to get a handle on it before he retires or switches to a lower team
