”All you have to do is study and your life is set.” I am so sick of hearing this. It’s not entirely true and it implies study is some easy shit when it‘s not. I understand the privilege of being able to study but it‘s not the end all be all for life.

I mean it’s certainly not easy, but it’s also on you to choose a field of study where you will be able to be financially sound. IE, if you chose communications, no shit you won’t be set for life

Parents these days are stuck in time. This only worked in the 80s and 90s when not many people were going to college as now. The market is saturated now because everyone is doing the same thing as everyone else. I still have hope though, and I am definitely finishing my degree. The job that I have now definitely made me realize that degrees still hold some value, it’s just way harder to get jobs after tho😖

I swear I’ve gone through the five stages of grief over this. I’m now accepting that anyone who says this has never actually experienced how grueling and stressful studying can be.

This mindset is mostly held nowadays by people who were inheriting the world when a 4 yr degree was in the low end of costing 4 figures

if it wasnt worth it in most degrees nobody would attend school, but thats also why vocational schooling is getting increasingly more popular

I agree 99% with your message. But you’d be surprised how many oversaturated colleges there are with not enough jobs. People do really spend $160k just to be a useless member of society

no i agree. the perfect example is cyber security rn, and you’d think that would be a high paying, highly wanted job. and its sad bc those people, most likely, did not for-see AI getting so big within the last four years. now they just have a degree, debt, and nowhere to work

Cyber security became over saturated well before AI blew up. It the all those ads and stuff that made everyone do it until way too many people had a degree in it
