I got my FIRST WHOLE paycheck after being unemployed for about 1.5 YEARS… My mom IMMEDIATELY: “ohh you’ll finally have enough money to join the gym and lose weight and finally get in shape” 🥲🥲🫠 Not even a second thought 😔😞

What hurts the most is that she didn’t even hesitated… like “ohh you’re finally not broke and fat. Now you’re just fat, go fix it!”

honestly your mom is probably right. she wouldn't say it if it wasnt true. u probably r a lazy pos. insinuating that you have not worked in over a year.

Even if you are overweight the delivery could have been way different to hurt less and still get her point across.

You’ve genuinely gotta be a lazy piece of lard for your mom to say that no offense

She might be a bit evil, but I think if you are fat, then she’s coming from a place of wanting her child to be healthy and not die of a heart attack, this might be straight forward but good intentions

You are completely valid its very hard to get a job with the economy the way it is, and you are valid in being excited it feels like you can breathe after so long - most people have long periods of unemployment its not weird and it doesn’t reflect badly on you, congratulations None of us know your relationship with your mom, i would have also felt hurt and been offended by what she said, it wasnt kind, you might not even be overweight, but taking care of yourself is important

As someone who used to be a fat fuck is no longer, I agree with your mom. Delivery might not be what you wanted, but she’s telling you that now you can fix an issue you’ve had for a while

It’s just crazy to me how critical parents can be and people will write it off as “oh, they care about you”. Ok well your mom could’ve been like “wow, I’m so proud of you!” And left it at that and maybe if she really was GENUINELY worried about your health, she could’ve invited you to go to a cool workout class together, like it’s not that hard to be kind. Honestly, I have had to be straight up with my mom about the way she comes across even if her intentions are “good” because it is hurtful

What about her delivery was bad? If she’s overweight and had no money, her mom said “wow now you have money and can lose the weight.” Truth hurts buddy

Have you complained that you aren’t losing weight because you don’t have money to join a gym?

But who knows why they waited that long. It could be that the 5G towers emitted anxiety and woke beams into OP’s brain causing them to become a NEET.

Yes but she could have told her in a way of telling her she’s overweight that maybe going to gym would benefit her health. As a mother it’s your job not to make your child feel belittled. It’s your job to be honest and help them come up without a solution that’s not going to hurt them
