 I’m so fucking tired of stories having rape with the love interest with no warning. It makes me feel disgusting and that I never want to read again and just delete all apps and websites that have content like that.

What happened? Glad you asked. I’ve had to unsubscribe and block FIVE DIFFERENT STORIES THIS WEEK. These are stories I’ve been reading for months. I’ve ready a maximum of ten stories this week and HALF of them contained untagged rape with the male lead that is later in the story considered redeemable or WORSE caused the FL to develop feelings for the dude

Dude I remember when this happened in cannon with Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Like, there was NO reason and it was totally out of character, and said character faced NO consequences afterward

the twisting of Dead Dove: Do Not Eat from “everything is tagged” to “dark content catch-all, meaning obvious i don’t have to tag & warn for it” has put us on a bad path

this is such a common problem i have had with ao3. what is the point of having tags if they don’t want to use them?? and when the author defends their actions by saying “i didn’t want to spoil it in the tags” RAPE ISNT A SPOILER

Romantacy mainly. Had it in multiple college aus or office ones too. Some are their own stories or for different fandoms (where assault wasn’t in the original) and it’s just annoying that I keep running into it. Not just on AO3 but other platforms I’ve been on. I sure know how to pick a story 😭

Especially when the origin of the phrase is that it was a clearly labeled bag with a dead dove inside and the guy who opened it was like “I didn’t know why I thought it would be something different”.
