normally I’d say yes but with everything going on at uf at the moment (school picks qualified academics involved person to be school president, state government rejects him for being too woke despite the candidate bending over backwards to kiss desantis’s butt by saying he’d cut dei to get the job, and now we’re in limbo wondering if that means we’re getting another politician that spends school funds on unnecessary stuff as school president and watch as our rankings drop more), I’d say no

but ofc you can always be an honorary gator and it looks like the interim president who took over from the politician (was president before him but retired) might have to stay for a while longer soooo if you wanna come we welcome you with open arms 🤗

Oh my god??😦 you know, I think I’ll stay here. It’s not much better than UF (they banned LGBTQIA+ events and groups on campus and trans people to enter their preferred bathrooms) but I wouldn’t want the hassle just to be put in that sort of similar situation

thankfully most of uf is this nice blue bubble, there’s a few outspoken haters, but it is in Florida and things are only getting worse here. plus everyone I’ve had a conversation with here at UF so far is very welcoming and open, and a lot of professors are too. I really hope the president situation will be handled decently well though because I’d rather not have a desantis puppet’s name on my diploma. best of luck to you at your school!! 🫂

my main hope with the situation (i have low hopes) is Fuchs comes back permanently or at the least stays internet long enough to get my degree

ALSO idk if you went to UF before like 2023, but Fuchs (my king) was the president before Sasse, he wanted to retire and just be a professor again, they picked Sasse he lasted less than two years and stepped back for ‘family reasons’ (he got caught taking money from the university/spending it on unnecessary things) that’s why he’s been interim
