What if it’s not written about in a positive light? What if it’s about the discussions of child pornography and its effects on their life later? A writer would still have to tag it as explicit descriptions of child pornography. What’s considered child pornography? Mentions of it but not descriptions of it? What’s considered a graphic enough description of it? Who decides if it is or isn’t explicit enough? What if the fanfiction is about consensual sex between two teenagers written BY a teenager

These sort of rules about what you can and cant post on an ARCHIVE is just not logistically feasible even if you somehow manage to make rules that everyone can agree on. Writers would just stop tagging anything that contains banned material and still post it. If it’s deleted they can make a new account and just post it again.

Even if there was some sort of reporting system by readers for banned content (which totally wouldn’t be abused in shit like ship wars🙄) The VOLUNTEERS who work for ao3 would have to read through an entire fucking fanfiction to see if the fic actually did break the rules.

And people aren’t okay with it, which is why it’s tagged and you can filter it out. Otherwise people will stop tagging things that will get them banned and then unsuspecting people will read nasty shit. And yes, I brought up shipping wars because people will absolutely 100000% abuse a system meant to ban writings of childhood sexual assault for things as stupidly petty as a shipping war

Also how elaborate is elaborate? How do you define where the cut-off is? Who deems what’s explicit enough and what’s not? How are you going to make a small team of volunteers parse through thousands of fics flagged for depictions of sexual assault when all along some fics just had mentions and not explicit depictions of it? this is such a dumb take because?? there is very much a reason censorship = fascism. if u think some piece of writing/FICTION is wrong and want to ban it then u can think wtv u like. but if u try banning it, people will take that as an excuse to ban EVERYTHING. like talks about LGBTQ or race or ethnicity or ANYTHING AT ALL. there is no possible form of censorship bc if u do it for one thing then everything will be censored eventually. and with everything censored? yes that is fascism.
