I really hate when people say they’re hyperfixating on something when they mean they really like it for two weeks, like to me a real hyperfixation lasts YEARS

yea same, and this got me looking up hyperfixation vs special interest which told me essentially that hyperfixations seem to be more about the degree of hyper-focus on a specific topic rather than the duration (though special interests seem to be longer by nature than hyperfixations, given that maintaining a special interest isn’t always as intense as hyperfixations are categorized by) but the two aren’t mutually exclusive!!
