Anakin and obiwan is such a weird ship to me because like. I can totally see anakin having a crush. But obi-wan? Hell no. Never. Ever. He would not

Bc the internet wants to fuck one of them and feels that they can project on the other.

Both dbh (Connor and Hank) and star wars, but this post is specifically about obi-wan and anakin.

Personally I have a theory that men in media aren’t allowed to have any kind of relationship other than romantic/sexual unless they’re actually blood related but honestly even then

Fr because people still ship Sam and Dean and it makes me want to vomit

It’s kinda upsetting because what do you mean they’re definitely screwing? They have wives and are more brother like than most brothers 😭

To each their own, I was just reading a fic with the ship untagged and was sick of it. Ao3 was made for ALL fancontent, don’t like don’t read, I know the rules, I was just getting annoyed at the difficulty of trying to find fics with the tag I want without the ship I dislike

It means “ship and let sail” basically means fans should feel free to ship whatever fictional relationships they want.

Man I’ve unfortunately seen stories that messed up I’m not saying it’s only because of SALS

You literally wrote “That’s why people write about raping babies 💀” Direct quote ?????

Let me rephrase that probably helps people feel comfortable about posting those stories. Not that they wouldn’t write them anyway

Yeah I got that and I’m saying - do some research on the topic this is something academics have been researching since the 1970s

Nah man it’s fine I’m just literally a fan research scholar who has published work about this topic so like I know it’s waaay deeper than what is being presented here

What point are you trying to make here? This ship has nothing to do with late night frustrated rant.

It’s sucks because it’s in almost every fandom and people will be like “OMG *ship* is so gross! Why would anyone ship that?!?!” And then I, *ship*’s #1 hater, has to sit them down and gently explain that horny teenage girls exist, and we’ve socially cut off self-insert ocs and x-reader as “cringe” so this is how they express their attraction without getting mocked.

Interestingly enough there’s a large, arguably larger but it’s difficult to research, portion of fandom where the fan is not interested in sex with one of the characters at all yet still engages in shipping

This is studied! I recommend starting with Henry Jenkins’ work Texusl Poachers and then moving onto critiques of his research such as those by Mathew Hill
