Like I read one the other day that offhandedly mentioned the feud between worm scientists and fly scientists in biological research that I was like 😦🫵 who are you and have I read a paper you were in at some point

Me with hacking sequences. “I hacked into their mainframe and bypassed their firewall” fun and cool, but clearly never touched cybersecurity. “They never changed the default username and password for their entire camera network” oh god you’ve also tried to impress the importance of setting passwords onto idiots too.

Hahaha it’s not so much an actual feud as a joking one. Worm scientists are notoriously very professional about their research and fly scientists are notoriously more… “fuck it we ball”

If you want to have a good laugh look up what they’ve named various fly mutations. Mutation that results in no heart? That’s Tinman right there. No external genitalia? Barbie and Ken. More sensitive to alcohol? Cheap Date. There’s actually so many. Whereas worm mutations have an entire system where the types of mutations, allele that it’s on, and some additional stuff all have codes and letters. So a worm mutation might look like ‘mnDp39’
