ngl when I re-read fics from when I was younger, the smut is almost always just as bad 😭 maybe it depends on what fandom you’re in. But I do see what you mean about smut more often just being kinks over what suits the characters, sometimes they legit transform into a completely different person when the smut kicks in. I think from a writing standpoint it’s just harder to put your character into a sexual situation and have them maintain their personality than it is to just…write generic porn.
