OP!! when you do the little stories in your head, write down notes. you may forget in the morning. but just write down some simple notes, they don’t need to be fancy or anything, just simple little things like “X does this and says ___ while jumping lol” take your notes and put it in your doc, because now you have a basic outline. expand on each of your points if you can, you now have more bulk to work with. let the words flow out from there and let your heart write a masterpiece.
OOH I DO THIS I write down my little stories in the most incoherent “talking to myself” notes possible, full of ums and oh yeahs and just scribbled down in the sort of way I’d talk to a best friend. And then I try to organize the scenes chronologically, come up with some connecting shenanigans, and then when it comes to actually writing the shit i have a cute lil notes document that’s just me yelling at myself :3
Talking to yourself is a super awesome way of piecing ideas together. You can even enable dictation/take a voice memo and just yap about the story to yourself. Also I set like 30 min timers and promise myself to write without stopping, so that is also a good opportunity to come up with side plots n such. I’ll attach an example
but most importantly: write EVERYTHING. everything as in everything you think of, doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad. as long as you write something, you have something to work with. And writing down different ideas is good for if your plot naturally starts to deviate a bit from the one you originally thought up, one of your old ideas could be used to help bridge plot points or steer the plot in the original direction. you’ve got this!!
and also just take it one step at a time. when I say write everything I mean write everything that can at the moment, and even if you can write one sentence or even just a few words, you’ve made progress. working little by little is fine, every word you write helps exercise your writing muscles and make you a better writer.
