for fanfic history: he showed up in a lot of like 2010s-era kpop fics where there was a party because 1) he was publicly friends with a lot of other kpop idols who were popular at the time and 2) parties are the number one plot device being used by college-AU fanfic writers; then he started showing up in the writers’ other fandoms and everything spiraled from there
