No shade to you but lowkey I do see how ao3 spreads harm bc like. We’re all here because we’re nerds, we all have a fandom we love, and we see how people buy merch and get into series through the fandom. And that spreads the impact. For example, I fell in love with Star Wars because of fandom, watched the shows and movies, and I own some very delightful Star Wars socks. I comment in the fandom, which expands it. I contribute to it, both in content and monetarily. Doing that for jkr expands her

Reach and thus her ability to hurt people. Tbc I think it’s one of the least bad options, and I’m not here to point fingers, but we also have to be honest, yanno?? I used to love hp, but I can’t really stomach the thought of it now. It was a big part of me growing up, but she’s soured it. It doesn’t help that I’m also queer as hell and see the way her talking points directly impact people I love. Again, not blaming you specifically, but her name on people lips ain’t it.

yupppppp i don’t especially care when people only play around in the fandom like i might side eye you but i don’t really care THAT much. but this is exactly how it works. even if you say “im making all hp characters GAY and TRANS to spite jkr #begaydocrime” it’s still her work. i keep seeing marauders fandom ppl use the term “reclaiming” and that’s literally just not how it works. they’re not reclaiming shit it wasn’t theirs to begin with. all it’s doing is not letting her name die in obscurity
