1) Okay since some ppl chose option #5 I’ll give added context here: the main character, Kaito, is a teenaged thief who stepped into his father’s mantle. His father was a thief too, as was his mom. Dad faked his death to avoid actually getting killed by a shady group of other thieves who saw him getting cocky, and he’s no longer in the picture. Dad was also a magician and taught Kaito magic tricks up until his death. When Kaito eventually finds out his dad was a thief and takes up the mantle, he

4) thief like them, which is true but also not. He comes to an extreme conclusion but he’s on the right track, basically. I was thinking of having the police officer originally be a part of a division dealing with child abuse or domestic abuse because in some cases the children in those situations are in similar spots so the police officer may have a reason in that sense to come to that conclusion, because he’s seen it before. Whether that’s actually the case with Kaito remains to be seen but
