I think this is a really common issue guys have in general. Get good at small talk by talking to strangers about literally anything. The weather, sports, politics can be a hot spot but general politics, stuff people can easily latch onto. From there see if you can get them to open up a little bit like where you from? Etc. etc. you can get to know them from there
