i’ll be a grad student this fall but all throughout undergrad i didn’t have a car and still had friends. i think it matters if they’re generous, if the hangouts are spaced out enough, and if you help with gas

you’ll still have friends but just make sure ur not treating them as a uber driver & atleast offer gas $ or pay for their food order or w/e, i have a grad student friend rn w/ no car but she’s v. overboard / majority of the stuff she asks of me can easily be solved by paying $10 on uber or doordash, idk y she doesn’t do it

This! Yes, definitely offer to help with gas! But a lot of my friends have been super understanding that I don’t drive. I know it’s a little annoying since it costs money, but I’ve used Lyft too. My school also has free public transit for students which comes in handy.
