i’m going to be a junior in college this upcoming year and i still don’t have a close group of friends. i thought i found my people with my past roommates but they started excluding me/being rude and now we don’t talk. I feel like i’m starting over with

This was me a couple years ago. I think the whole “best friends with your roommates then never speaking” thing is maybe a canon event. But what’s got me through it is just trying to accept new friendships instead of excluding yourself, which sounds like duh obviously, but I think most of the time I was just hesitant to lean into the small talk with people in class or at work. It definitely helps to open up, so good luck! The best friendships will feel natural so don’t stress too much 🫶🏻

finding friends and it’s hard because how do you make new friends/establish a friend group so late into college when everyone already has their groups

I feel you as an incoming sophomore who dropped 2 people because those friendships stressed me out and I always felt like I owed them an explanation if I couldn’t hang out anymore

thank you for saying this, i’m glad people can relate to this experience!! i felt like i put my everything into my friendships with my roommates and didn’t feel the need to branch out, but they completely switched up into mean girls so now obviously we’re not friends anymore and now i’m just struggling to navigate how to put myself out there to find genuine friendships especially as a junior. I definitely want to kinda force myself to be more outgoing and talk to people in class!!
