Hot take but freedom of speech is good actually and just because a game depicts something doesn’t mean it condones it👍 Credit card companies of all people shouldn’t be allowed to just decide which games are legal to purchase.
Steam was right to get rid of what It did. Collective shout is right about this too, there are fundamental standards we need to uphold as a society. There is a such thing as unacceptable content.

I don’t understand why ppl think companies telling us what games we can and can’t buy is a good thing ?

The fact that people like getting stomped on and being told what they can and can’t do by giga corporations with the money they earned is crazy

Literally the fact that the same weird religious group (collective shout) that pushed for this with credit card companies vehemently hates Detroit: Become Human is all I need to know about how this will progress in the future. It’s not just about adult games

Hmm. I’m torn on this. On the one hand, you’re right as a matter of general principle. On the other hand, there’s content you don’t condone, and then there’s *anime*. Really a whole other league there

I know it’s insane. Frankly this whole thing is making me rethink the fact that all our digital purchasing platforms are in the hands of private companies. Rather than a public service operated by the government like cash is. Cause they should NOT be able to do this shit😭 Frankly it’s horrifying that there aren’t already laws in place to prevent this.

I mean, games aren’t a public service. They’re an entertainment product that’s sold like an entertainment product. I don’t like the puriteen censorship push I’ve been seeing recently, but this is quite frankly not something that must be regulated like a public necessity.

Wait! They hate Detroit: Become Human? I haven't looked into the Collective Shout stuff yet, but I know I'm not for religion dictating what I get to do with my life.

I mean I do see your point there are some…. Disturbing anime’s out there…. But either way *credit card companies* surely shouldn’t be the ones responsible for regulating that.

No literally like I’m already pissed enough at the gaming industry for the sky high prices, saying we don’t actually own our games, and AI bullshit rn. They don’t need to add “corporations control what games it’s legal to play now😁 ” to the list. Get off your knees and brush your teeth, corporations don’t need you to defend them.

Haven’t played that yet actually but I get viscerally angry when people try to stomp on the first amendment. I had heard some things about that group but it makes sense that they’re fundamentalist weirdos. God I hate those people. If I wanna play games with big anime tiddies this is my right😤
