Fucking ai vultures making the Steam Machine cost $1050. Probably could’ve gotten that shit for $600 if it wasn’t for those shitheads and Trump.

It was never gonna be $600. That wasn’t wishful thinking, that was being delusional. You could argue an entry price of $700, but considering the controller is $100, what most people envisioned wasn’t gonna be lower than $800. There’s a reason they said they were pricing it like a PC and not a console.

Trump definitely is not affecting the price of these things.

How is “Open up production in the US, boost the US economy and create us jobs or be fined” Trumps fault? It’s the companies that would rather exploit foreigners for profits fault

Is any single component of the Steam Machine being built in the US? No? then all of those policies to drive increased US manufacturing simply increased costs on consumers. obviously yes it's ultimately because corporations exploit people for their bottom line, but that doesn't change that Trump's policies made the prices higher.

The steam machine should have been built in the US then. If you have a problem with companies not supporting the United States, then take it up with the companies, don’t blame the man who’s trying to make the US stronger.

Building it in the U.S. wouldn’t make things cheaper when the parts still come from outside the U.S. really, the larger corporations should be pushing for it before Valve

So the US manufacturing industry could not currently support the level of production for computer parts. Simple supply and demand dictates that you’d either get higher prices or a longer wait in the US. He is doing the policy equivalent of hitting things with a wrench until they’re bent into a shape that looks right.

You don’t fix and reroute global supply chains by hitting everyone with tariffs and restrictions, it would look like serious domestic spending that would increase the number of businesses in manufacturing rather than mildly help the ones we already have.

Hitting things with a wrench looks powerful and makes things into the right shape for an untrained eye, but Trump has done little to improve the long term health of the economy. If he cared about our financial well being the price of gas wouldn’t be up nearly double what it was.
