What does softmodding a Wii do? If I do the same will Nintendo take me out back and shoot me

If they did that, Nintendo and Sony would have to fight over who gets to shoot me first as ive softmodded my ds, gamecube, ps1 & ps2 🤷🏼‍♂️ It mostly allows you to play whatever games you want, emulators things like that
